EARLY WORK

From 1980 on Paiement worked with the figure, portraits, still lifes and landscapes though he would divert and spend years on abstract imagery. Paiement was always exploring the expressive mark in relation to representational work and moved from the early simple pencil and color work to etchings, woodcuts and collage. Portraiture continues to challenge and intrigue him.
