Tom Paiement Fine Art

Tom Paiement is a well known Maine artist with an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine.

He has recently completed a trilogy he calls ‘Entropy’. The three large (over 6’ square) paintings took him a year and a half to complete. Bob Keyes of the Portland Sunday Telegram states that “ Paiement’s trilogy functions as his personal manifesto of modern times, their decline and potential”.

Susan Danly, a curator at the Portland Museum of Art calls the series “one of the most important pieces of contemporary art to come out of Maine in recent years” stated in a recent article on Paiement in the Portland Sunday Telegram (Sunday April 27, 2008). Art critic Phillip Isaacson of the Portland Press Herald has called Paiement’s work “powerful and masterly that rocks the walls”. Cate McQuaid of the Boston Globe has stated his paintings “feel human-jittery, changeable, passionate and afraid”.
